An the last 72 hours, the number of soldiers, members of the national police and civil guards mobilized by the Spanish government has increased from 7,300 to 14,898”, Sánchez clarified during a press conference.
This contingent is supported by 287 forest guards, around a hundred customs agents and 44 forensic doctors, he said, noting the mobilization of some 600 specialized vehicles and machines for pumping, cleaning and supply disaster areas.
Sánchez noted that this massive deployment, both human and material, made it possible to carry out 1,300 rescue operations, while supporting local authorities and the population in tasks such as removing vehicles, clearing debris, inspecting garages, as well as the distribution of 95,000 liters of water.
According to the head of government, 98% of affected households have regained electricity, while 68% have restored their telephone line. He also said that 40 kilometers of roads and 74 kilometers of railways had been repaired.
The human toll from these deadly floods stands at 218 dead, while the search for missing people still continues.
