Murder in Sierre on Sunday: “Cries of torture”

Sunday November 3, in Sierre (VS) the Valais police were alerted by an urgent call. Several patrols from the cantonal police and regional police converged on an apartment in town. Once there, the police discovered an 80-year-old man deceased, and a seriously injured woman, his 77-year-old wife.

The Valais police also communicated that a 59-year-old person had been arrested and detained on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of the investigation.

“Le Nouvelliste” was able to question a neighbor who went out onto her balcony at the time of the attack: “I heard screams of torture and cries for help, then nothing. It all came from this apartment.”

This chilling testimony continues by specifying that the elderly lady left her apartment and that her “head was bleeding”, before taking refuge with neighbors. “That’s when I realized something bad had happened. I then called the police,” adds the woman.

“Piss off an Italian?”

But that’s not all. After the attack, the same neighbor saw a man leave the apartment and take a bicycle. He then allegedly shouted: “That will teach you how to piss off an Italian,” before leaving. He’s the 59-year-old man police say they later arrested.

According to the Valais radio Rhône FM, this man would be close to the family, who had already made threats against the old couple. The attacker should be the subject of a psychiatric assessment, according to the Valais attorney general, Béatrice Pilloud, who does not provide more information on this case, in particular on the state of health of the wife who survived this terrible tragedy.
