« The President of the Republic benefits from a principle of irresponsibility“, according to Ismaïla Madior Fall. Guest, this Sunday, November 3, 2024, on the TFM “Grand Jury” program, the former Minister of Justice returned to the threats of prosecution against the former head of state Macky Sall.

« We cannot judge him for acts he allegedly committed while exercising his functions. The principle is irresponsibility. Responsibility can only be exceptionally considered in the event of high treason“, according to the lawyer.

Who continues: “ That’s article 100 of the Constitution which says so. This means that there must be facts considered or constituting high treason. There must be an investigation carried out which confirms that these facts constitute high treason.« .

He maintains that “ that it is a collective responsibility. It is a responsibility of the protagonists who were the executive and the opposition. Because there have been calls for insurrection, calls for demonstrations… In this case, the only solution to ease tensions is to find a formula for reconciliatory justice« .

« This is the path we must take today. Because if the State had not coped, it would have collapsed, democracy would have collapsed. And today, those in power could not have taken it. Maybe they were adventurers, soldiers who took power. We must, I think, note that the State has been managed, the State has been protected, the State has been protected, democracy has been safeguarded“, he adds.
