In Toronto, this Friday afternoon, a driver of a stolen car caused panic in the city center. While trying to escape the police, he ran into a police horse, hit several vehicles and destroyed the front of a store. The images of the incident are striking and were filmed by a resident.

Toronto police were alerted around 3 p.m. to the presence of a stolen Dodge Ram pickup truck parked in the city center. Officers, on foot, in cars and on horseback, converged on the vehicle to intercept it. But as soon as he saw the police, the driver made a desperate maneuver. He backed onto the sidewalk, nearly knocking down passers-by, then tried to turn around.

While he was blocked by police vehicles, the fugitive tried to escape by turning sharply to the left, crashing into the window of a business. During this crazy chase, several parked cars were also hit. In the video of the incident, one of the suspects is seen leaving the vehicle before being stopped by a pedestrian.

The driver and a police officer were taken to hospital with minor injuries. A mounted patrol horse was also admitted to the veterinary hospital for evaluation. “Luckily no one was seriously injured, but it was a very dangerous situation,” Inspector Scott Schutt told the Canadian press.
