Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye expressed optimism about the future of economic relations between Senegal and Turkey. During the Türkiye-Senegal business forum, he highlighted the importance of this event in strengthening ties between the two nations, recalling that Türkiye established its embassy in Senegal in 1964, thus laying the foundation for lasting cooperation .

Faye discussed the advances made in various sectors such as infrastructure, health, defense, agriculture and energy, thanks to collaboration with Turkish companies. He called for diversification and an extension of this cooperation, highlighting Senegal’s political stability, its democratic tradition and its strategic geographic position in West Africa.

The president also drew attention to the opportunities offered by Senegal as a young and dynamic country, particularly after the discovery of oil and natural gas. He encouraged Turkish investors to consider Senegal for projects involving technology transfer, while praising Türkiye’s industrial dynamism and technological expertise.

Faye shared Senegal’s 2050 vision, which consists of a national transformation plan including industrial and agri-food development programs. He stressed the importance of agriculture, the food industry, and reducing dependence on imports. He recognized that Turkish companies could play an important role in these areas with their expertise.

Furthermore, the president mentioned Senegal’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure and develop the energy sector, particularly renewable energies. Tourism has also been identified as a key sector to boost the Senegalese economy.

Cooperation agreements were signed during the forum, including partnerships between Senegalese and Turkish institutions. These agreements aim to further strengthen economic relations and facilitate new joint initiatives.
