A water infiltration is the cause of the service interruption on the green line, which began around 10:22 a.m., according to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).
The water infiltration occurred due to a break in the City’s water main this morning at Lionel-Groulx station, the STM said by email. “We had installed corrugated panels to prevent the accumulation of water, but as these did not hold, there was a new leak,” said a spokesperson.
As for the REM, strong winds blowing at more than 70 km/h were to blame for the interruption of its service. “As the wind is blowing even stronger on the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge, we prefer not to take any risks with the safety of our users,” said a spokesperson for CDPQ Infra by email.
STM teams are working to pump out the water that has accumulated on the tracks. Trains are immobilized for an indefinite period.
Users traveling between Lionel-Groulx and Berri-UQAM stations are invited to take the orange line. A shuttle bus service also runs between the Angrignon and Lionel-Groulx stations.
The first service interruption occurred around 6 a.m. Friday morning between the Angrignon and Berri-UQAM stations, again due to water infiltration. Service finally resumed around 7 a.m.
Around 9:26 a.m., service was interrupted again between Lionel-Groulx and Angrignon stations, this time due to a train breakdown. Service resumed about twenty minutes later.
