Los Angeles Lakers NBA superstar LeBron James called on Thursday to vote for Democratic White House candidate Kamala Harris five days before the US presidential election.

“When I think about my children and my family, about their future, for me the choice is clear. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS!!!”, wrote the “King” on his social networks, a message accompanied by a video montage denouncing in particular the racist nature of Donald Trump’s big meeting held on Sunday in Madison Square Garden in New York, followed historical images of the fight for civil rights and the Black Lives Matter movement.

At 39 years old, LeBron James, crowned Olympic champion for the third time with the United States this summer in , began his 22nd NBA season last week, even sharing a few minutes on the floor with his son Bronny James in the jersey of the Lakers.

Several voices in the NBA have given their support to Kamala Harris

He had already supported Democratic candidates in the past and criticized Donald Trump, notably in 2017 when he wrote that being received at the White House (as NBA champion), “was a great honor, until ‘until you enter’.

Several influential voices in the NBA have recently given their support to Kamala Harris, notably the former star of the courts Magic Johnson, or the star of the Golden State Warriors Stephen Curry and his coach Steve Kerr. The vice-president displays a long-standing closeness with the flagship team of the San Francisco Bay Area, her native region.

Historic San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich once again blasted Donald Trump this week, calling him “a pathetic individual.”
