The Moroccan diplomat reiterated the Kingdom’s call to “go beyond crisis management policy to establish lasting peace, support initiatives for a ceasefire and encourage political dialogue within the framework of the two-state solution, with Al-Quds East as the Palestinian capital.
She also underlined “the great importance given by His Majesty the King to security and stability in Lebanon, as well as Morocco’s solidarity with the Lebanese government and people in the trials they are going through.”
Furthermore, Ms. Benyaich reiterated the vision of reforms of the Union for the Mediterranean, already expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, during the 7th Regional Forum in 2022, emphasizing the urgent need to strengthen the political dimension of the organization, the integration of new strategic priorities as well as the establishment of a governance system supported by adequate financial resources.

In this context, the president of the Moroccan delegation, composed in particular of the director for the European Union and Mediterranean processes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Allal Ouazzani Touhami, reaffirmed the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to work for a stable Mediterranean, resilient and prosperous, by strengthening cooperation ties within the Union for the Mediterranean and working together with its partners for a common future.
The UfM Regional Forum was co-chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, and Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, in presence in particular of the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and the Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean, Nasser Kamel.
