Bringing together the cream of the colts over the distance of 2100 meters, the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (Group 1) delivered its verdict this Sunday June 2 at the Chantilly racecourse. Trained by the Lerner family (Carlos and Yann), Look de Vega triumphed easily and remains undefeated in three races.
(Zone-turf.fr) – Following the withdrawal of number 1 Wahdan, fourteen 3-year-old foals were at the start of the 2024 edition of the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club (Group 1) to try to succeed the champion Ace Impact. And we witnessed the coronation of another little phenomenon called Look de Vega.
Look of Vega triumphs with authority
After having waited in a good position in a race driven by the favorite Fast Tracker, Look de Vega was launched 400 meters from the finish by his jockey Ronan Thomas then easily took the advantage 300 meters from the goal and then soared to authoritarian success. Trained by André Fabre, First Look and Sosie finished in second and third place respectively. The English Ghostwriter and Mondo Man completed the good combination of Quinté+. After having animated the race, the favorite Fast Tracker weakened in the straight and finished second to last.
Second coronation for the Lerner family
Twenty-three years after Anabaa Blue’s victory, the Lerner family won the prestigious Qatar Prix du Jockey Club for the second time and can dream of the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
