Casablanca – The new theatrical play “Attay El A’zara”, directed by Sami Saâdallah, was presented Sunday evening at the Grand Théâtre Ben M’sik in Casablanca.

Presented by the “Al-Mouhtaraf Addahabi” dramatic arts troupe, this theatrical show brought together a host of Moroccan theater stars.

In a statement to MAP, the director, Sami Saadallah, indicated that this theatrical piece draws its dramatic elements from popular legends transmitted through generations on the lives of Bouchaib Raddad and Lalla Aicha Bahriya, who remain closely linked to the Azemmour region.

These tales anchored in the Doukkala region, he continued, have permeated Moroccan popular culture, noting that the play addresses a love story overtaken by judgments that are not very tolerant of society.

According to the director, the approach to the characters follows an introspective dynamic, exploring an emotional and psychological evolution through visual and sound metaphors. “I sought to create a symbiosis between the visual and auditory elements to accentuate the depth of the story,” he maintained.

“My main objective was to transport the viewer to a dimension where the visible and the invisible meet, through a staging that fuses realism and dreaminess. This approach, close to the Moroccan collective imagination, opens the way to a modern reinterpretation of ancestral stories,” he said.

For the scenographer, Yassine El Zaoui, all the scenographic elements, acting expressions and sound effects are continually inspired by popular heritage to give the play a Moroccan cultural identity.

“The scenography, carefully designed, aims to immerse the audience in a universe that is both tangible and metaphorical, where each element of the decor and each movement of the characters participate in the creation of an immersive and poetic atmosphere,” he said. he concluded.

The play, which benefited from the support of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Department of Culture, is written by Abdelmajid Saadallah, with dramaturgy and direction by Sami Saadallah, and scenography and design costumes by Yassine El Zaoui. It features a set of talented actors, namely Jamila Maslouhi, Sara Faris, Mostafa Ahnini, Nour Eddine Saadane.
