the A47 reopened, trains between and Saint-Etienne still stopped

The A47 was partly reopened this Friday, October 18 between the Rhône and the . Train traffic between and Saint-Etienne is still interrupted.

After the exceptional bad weather that occurred on Thursday October 17 in the Rhône, this Friday marks a significant lull and the end of the Cevennes episode. Closed since yesterday morning because it was completely flooded, the A47 motorway was reopened to light vehicles this morning, the Loire prefect indicated on X.

Exits 12 and 13 still closed

Cars can travel between exits 11 and 15, exits 12 and 13 are closed to prevent access to Rive-de-Gier, particularly affected by flooding. Heavy goods vehicles are required to travel on the A89, controls will be reinforced, indicates the Loire prefecture.

At Givors, the Rhône prefecture is deploying means to ensure the pumping of water located under the hopper. Trapped vehicles must also be evacuated. Several departmental roads in the Rhône remain closed for the time being, notably in Saint-Laurent-de-Mure, Chabanière and Chaponnay.

Rail traffic between Lyon and Saint-Etienne is still interrupted. No substitution by coach will be provided on Friday October 18, indicates the SNCF which specifies that “rail traffic will not be able to resume for several days“.
