Royal visit this Wednesday October 16, 2024 to Lille (North). The King and Queen of the BelgiansPhilippe and Mathilde, will indeed conclude their stay in France by the capital of Flanders. They will be in particular received by Valérie LétardMinister of Housing and Urban Renewal.

What the Belgian king and queen will do in Lille

“Echoing the state visit made by the President of the Republic and Brigitte Macron to Belgium in 2018, this trip constitutes a new opportunity to celebrate the fraternal friendship that unites France and Belgiumfriendship based on a common history and geography, as well as on a cultural and linguistic heritage which brings the two countries together,” comments the prefecture.

This visit should also allowdeepen “the bilateral defense and security relationship, the density of economic and commercial exchanges as well as academic, scientific and innovation cooperation, which contribute to European sovereignty.”

While rue Faidherbe has taken on the Franco-Belgian colors, the king and queen must arrive at theopéra at 1:30 p.m. where they will have lunch.

They are expected two hours later nearEuratechnologies for a presentation of the metamorphosis of Bois-Blancs district and a meeting with start-ups.

They will then be received at the prefecture around 5 p.m. The day will end on the Place de la République with a military ceremony departure, shortly after at 6 p.m.
