Diamniadio, Oct 13 (APS) – The State of Senegal will provide “total and absolute support” to all “initiatives aimed at strengthening the revitalization of the tourism sector”, declared Saturday in Diamniadio (Rufisque ), the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko.

”I can assure you of the total support, the absolute support of the State of Senegal, of the President of the Republic, of the government for all initiatives going in the direction of strengthening the revitalization of the tourism sector”, a- he assured.

The Prime Minister presided over the launch of two subsidiaries of the Company for the Development and Promotion of Coasts and Tourist Zones of Senegal (SAPCO), notably “Sénégalaise de Logistics et de Tourisme (SLT)”, operating in logistics and transport. and “Sapco Properties”, active in tourist real estate.

”We say that tourism must be reprogrammed, practically reprofiled to our sovereignist option to be able to also promote endogenous tourism, local tourism,” underlined the head of government.

According to him, integrated tourism can certainly bring in more than tourism that comes to us from outside. ”We must therefore work to promote it, to encourage the Senegalese to discover their country because it costs less,” he recommended.

”Given the objective assets we have: geographical assets linked to the positioning of this country, cultural assets with a socio-cultural richness to highlight, but also natural assets, linked to extremely rich biodiversity. Whoever wants to build Senegal must build it on this foundation with enormous potential in terms of employability, especially for young people, and in the creation of wealth and impact on the growth of the country,” he added.

The Prime Minister highlighted all the initiatives made in this sector which constitutes an “extremely important lever” for the Government’s new public policy frameworks both in its 2050 vision and in its ten-year and five-year periods.

Ousmane Sonko also expressed the government’s concern to build the country on the basis of “a green economy, the cleanest possible economy” in a context of global warming.

”In all our initiatives, we must favor the cleanest and greenest means of production possible,” he said.

Officials, elected officials, technical and financial partners as well as numerous players in the tourism and air transport sector took part in this ceremony organized at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Diamniadio.
