Goldie Hawn, 78, has been dating Kurt Russell, 73, since Valentine’s Day 1983. The couple have a son, Wyatt Russell, 38, but never married. During an interview with E! News, the actress was very clear about the secret of their long affair:
“You have to have good sex. Because sex is something that connects you and creates more belonging…people who have healthy sexual relationships generally last much longer.”
“But it’s not just because of the act, it’s because of the warmth and intimacy it creates,” she added. You need to be nice to each other on occasion.”
Goldie Hawn went on to explain that couples who hope to stay together for decades need to focus on other areas as well. About her romance with Kurt Russell, she said they didn’t always see eye to eye.
“You know you are not the same person. You don’t always think the same way. You have to accept it, but you also have to ask yourself if you’re having fun or if it’s something you want to do. Do we laugh together? Do we share certain things? There is no need to share everything,” she explained.
She also advised couples not to compare themselves to each other. “We have a lot of expectations, I think, when it comes to relationships, but you have to love the person. It’s very important,” insisted Goldie Hawn.
