POLITICS – It is not only in the polls that Raphaël Glucksmann dominates the left’s battle in view of the European elections. In the second wave of the barometer transmitted by the Visibrain platform to HuffPost (which notes an overall increase of 10% in content posted in connection with the election) the PS-Place Publique candidate is gaining ground on social networks, which remain generally dominated by the far right.

During the month of April, the MEP garnered 159,924 interactions across all of his platforms. And this, as we wrote last month, when Raphaël Glucksmann got rid of his TikTok account, to be in line with his fight against foreign interference in Western democracies. Which mechanically deprives him of a Source of audience.

However, the head of the socialist list joins the top 5 of the most followed candidates, behind Jordan Bardella, the frexiter Florian Philippot and the Reconquest candidate! Marion Maréchal.

Note that Manon Aubry is not very far from the person concerned, since she collected 121,050 interactions in total over the past month. On the other hand, the head of the environmentalist list, and its communist counterpart, are lagging behind in this area. Raphaël Glucksmann generates eight times more engagement (comments, retweets, likes, etc.) than Marie Toussaint, and almost 20 times more than Léon Deffontaines. On his favorite network, Instagram, the socialist also crushes the competition. Raphaël Glucksmann garners four times more commitments on this network than Manon Aubry, fourteen times more than Marie Toussaint and… fifty-eight times more than Léon Deffontaines.

Bardella still far ahead

Note, however, that this weighs little compared to the juggernaut Jordan Bardella. Over the past month, the RN candidate recorded a total of more than a million interactions (i.e. 12% more than the previous month) and gained 158,909 followers across all of his social networks.

The lepenist candidate is progressing especially on TikTok and Instagram, with 86% of his interactions coming from these two platforms alone. This while the content he shares is not very politicized, and is more part of an image strategy and audience conquest than in the debate of ideas.

However, it must be remembered that the far right is naturally over-represented on social networks, to the extent that nationalist content and content containing conspiracy theories have a strong viral potential, as this study by Media Matters for America showed. Which explains the audience of Florian Philippot, whose performance on the Web -782,148 interactions in the month of April- is inversely proportional to his electoral potential.
