Audiovisual: Mandéka and Pulaaku, two television channels offering the best series in Pulaar and Bambara/Malinké, officially launched by the Canal+ Mali group

The audiovisual landscape is enriched with the official launch by the Canal + Mali group of the Mandéka and Pulaaku television channels. The launching ceremony took place on Tuesday at the national museum under the aegis of the Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Modernization of the Administration, Alhamdou Ag Ilyène.

Launched on Monday April 29, the Mandéka and Pulaaku television channels enhance the Canal+ Mali bouquet. The first, Mandeka, is aimed at all the Mandingo populations of Senegal, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Mali and elsewhere… It offers the best of series and theaters in the Mandingo language and in Bambara. The second, Pulaagu, is dedicated to the Fulani populations or Fulani culture of the entire sub-region. Its offering also consists of cult and new series, but this time in the Fulani language.

Through these new channels, the Canal+ Group has made a strategic choice. This is a strong editorial and cultural project, the objective of which is to strengthen the local anchoring of its programs and their attractiveness for populations. This initiative allows the group to better meet the expectations of its viewers, by offering them creative and varied programming, in line with the socio-cultural realities of the countries concerned.

Family-friendly and unifying, these two channels bring together all families and all audiences », declared the General Director of Canal +. Idrissa Diallo indicated that the two new television channels are authentic and entertaining. Mandeka and Pulaagu will show comedy, dramas and epics, embodied by all generations of actors and actresses, in two of the most widely spoken national languages ​​in Mali: Pulaar and Bambara/Malinké.

Thanks to these new channels, the image distribution company will invest more, each year, in local content, to become an essential link in the Malian audiovisual creation ecosystem. “ For national productions, our new Mandeka and Pulaagu channels constitute a distribution channel and an additional Source of income, which will strengthen producers and allow them to develop », remarked Idrissa Diallo.

A real development lever

For the Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Modernization of the Administration, Alhamdou Ag Ilyène, Mandenka and Pulaagu, which respectively offer programs in the Mandinka language and in the Fulfuldé language, strengthen the Malian audiovisual landscape. “ Through these new channels, Canal+ affirms its local roots by strengthening the link between the programs offered and the Malian public, who are thirsty for new products adapted to their socio-cultural realities. “, he explained.

Alhamdou Ag Ilyène indicated that the government welcomes the initiative taken by Canal+ to launch channels whose programs are exclusively in our national languages. “ It fits perfectly with our vision of developing our creative and cultural industries “, he stressed. Before continuing that it is a question of making them a real lever of development so that they are more creators of jobs, value and wealth for the whole of Malian society.

The ceremony was marked by the presentation of the programs of the two television channels by the editorial editor-in-chief of Canal+ International, Djiby Ba and performances by artists.
