An outbreak of COVID-19 is occurring in the acute care unit of Réseau Santé Rive Nord in Blind River.

In a press release, Réseau Santé Rive Nord indicates that Algoma Public Health declared the outbreak after the presence of COVID-19 was confirmed at the unit.

Réseau Santé Rive-Nord indicates that it works closely with the health office to take steps to ensure the safety of workers, providers, patients and visitors, including monitoring all patients for new symptoms, closing new admissions and implementing visitor restrictions.

General visits are prohibited during the outbreak. Visits are limited to essential caregivers for a maximum of two visitors each day.

The organization specifies that end-of-life patients will benefit from a visit plan developed with the healthcare team.

Visitors are required to wear a medical mask at all times and wash their hands upon entry and exit

All visitors should consider their personal health when determining whether a visit is appropriate. Visitors with flu symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, runny nose, sneezing, etc.) will be asked not to visit.
