To sign her farewell to the stage, the singer spoke at length to the magazine Point of view. She notably spoke about some significant periods in her life, such as her meeting with the Queen of England.
The icon of French song said goodbye to the stage after a career spanning 63 years. For this, she has been performing since January 24 and until January 26 in the immense hall of the Palais des Congrès in Paris. On this occasion, she spoke at length in a recent interview with the magazine Point of view remembering her first meeting with the late Queen Elizabeth II.
It was in 1965, when the singer was only 21 years old. “I wore a pretty sky blue dress. I was still a kid, very impressed by this character,” she recalled. That year, the interpreter of La plus belle pour aller danser experienced her romance with Johnny Hallyday. If she did not specify the meeting place with the former monarch of the United Kingdom, who died in September 2022, she continues: “She was very kind to me. With a big smile, she told me that she appreciated my songs. That was all it took to delight Sylvie Vartan.
The emotion of the King of Bulgaria
In this same interview, the one who has since remarried with actor Tony Scottia, shared another memory from her past. This time, her meeting with King Simeon of Bulgaria, in 1990, while she was performing in the country. She explains that the latter had come to visit her. “In my dressing room, I gave him a fresco drawn by my father as well as photos of his parents that my family had carefully preserved,” she relates. A gesture which greatly moved the monarch.
