In 2024, the Deux-Sèvres community radio station D4B had a deficit of 20,000 euros, which made its future uncertain. An online solidarity fund was launched and 4,500 euros were collected. However, D4B remains in a delicate financial situation.

Last November, D4B radio staff were very pessimistic about its future. Around 20,000 euros were then missing from the fund and that is why a call for solidarity from listeners was launched. 4,500 euros were raised, including 3,300 via an online kitty, the rest coming from direct donations.
Muriel Jolly is the treasurer of D4B radio: « We are very happy, we didn't think we would collect so much. There was a lot of generosity and morally, it also helped us a lot because we believe in this radio. It has existed for 40 years and we want it to continue and to see that there are many people from the region who have mobilized, associations too, it is encouraging. And then, we also received a supplement to the radio expression support fund. »
The radio is not saved. We bailed out, but we are still very fragile.

This oxygen balloon allowed Melle's community radio to survive and satisfy its 15,000 listeners, but everything is not settled yet: « We will not close our doors in the next two months, but the radio station is not saved. We bailed out, but we are still very fragile since we barely have one month of cash and we would need to be able to free up six months of cash to have peace of mind. We will continue to communicate with companies to obtain sponsorship, even if it is something we are not used to doing. Our institutional partners help us a lot, the amount of subsidies cannot increase much. We will also approach individuals to collect donations or memberships. We also work regularly with schools and colleges for educational projects, that too could help us,” specifies Muriel Jolly.
We would need to review our associative project, but currently, we have this cash flow problem to resolve.

D4B staff hope that the financial problems will be resolved first so that they can have more peace of mind and be able to concentrate on the programs: “These are problems that prevent us from having long-term visions. We would need to review our associative project, but currently, we have this cash flow problem to resolve,” concludes Muriel Jolly.
