As they prepare their tenth album, the Swedes of Avatar revisit their past with a new piano version of their song Tower.

A new chapter for Avatar

Swedish Metal band Avatar will enter the studio in January 2025 to record their tenth album, succeeding Dance Devil Dance (2023). Once again, production will be entrusted to Jay Ruston, known for his work with Anthrax, Steel Panther and Uriah Heep.

Scheduled for release in 2025 under their own label Black Waltz Records (distributed by Thirty Tigers), this album will mark a new milestone for the Avatar musicians, who continue to redefine their sound with each opus.

Return to Tower

While waiting for this next project, Avatar has unveiled a re-recorded and entirely reimagined piano version of its title Tower. This track, originally present on the album Hail The Apocalypse (2014), is a first for the group, who had never revisited one of their songs in this way before.

Johannes Eckerström, the band’s lead singer, shared his thoughts on this reinterpretation: “This version of Tower represents a special moment in a very special time in our lives. It’s a natural way to pause and look back, before charging full speed into the future. It’s a thank you to everyone who supports us and makes magic possible.”

This re-recording has a special significance: Avatar does not own the rights or royalties from albums released before 2015, including Hail The Apocalypse. Currently, the group is engaged in a legal battle with its former label, Fifth Island (Sony Music Entertainment), to regain these rights.
