Like snowflakes and Mariah Carey’s five octaves, music reviews are blooming as December approaches. The French platform Deezer is the first to release “My Deezer Year 2024”, its personalized device allowing each user to discover the retrospective of their year. On average, subscribers to the service listened to 70 hours of music around the world, cumulatively listening to around 400 tracks (including 80 new releases) from the catalog of nearly 170 artists. “ In France, 2024 has revealed itself as a formidable land of discovery. The French scene continued to explore new horizons. Talents like Pierre Garnier, Zaho de Sagazan and Yamê captivated us with their creativity in different universes. Alongside them, artists like SDM, Yseult and Santa have taken it up a notch with very ambitious proposals. » analyzes Azzedine Fall, music and culture director at Deezer.

Jungeli and Pierre Garnier seduce France
While 3.6 million French music lovers are (gently) mocked for their questionable tastes by Deezer’s AI, the overall results, broken down for France and the whole world, reveal the list of artists, songs and albums that have been the most popular over the last 12 months. Accustomed to donning the crown, Jul sits at the head of the stars panicking the counters ahead of his friends Ninho, PLK, Gazo and Werenoi, who has the most streamed album in France with “Pyramide”. The top 10 artists are, once again, entirely male and made up of big names from the hip-hop scene. Looking at the hits of 2024, the panorama is more cosmopolitan. Jungeli comes first with “Petit Génie”, which remained at the top of the Top Singles for 17 weeks, ahead of “Imagine” by Carbonne and “Spider” by Gims and Dystinct, in the running for the Purecharts Awards #3. Benson Boone is the first international artist to break through: the American singer is fourth with the enormous “Beautiful Things” ahead of Pierre Garnier, winner of the “Star Academy” who positions his phenomenon hit “Ceux qu’on été” at the fifth rank. It should be noted, on the albums side, that Billie Eiliesh is the only female and international artist in the ranking: “Hit Me Hard And Soft” is the 5th most popular record of the year in France.
On a global scale, the number one artist on Deezer is none other than Taylor Swift, who is ahead of David Guetta (cocorico!) and The Weeknd. Her album “The Tortured Poets Department” is the fifth most streamed record of 2024 behind “Cowboy Carter” by Beyoncé, “Short n’ Sweet” by Sabrina Carpenter, “Fireworks & Rollerblades” by Benson Boone and… “Hit Me Hard And Soft”, which takes the crown! More surprisingly, in terms of songs, it was Teddy Swims who won with “Lose Control” in front of ultra-popular stars like Beyoncé (“Texas Hold ‘Em”), Miley Cyrus (“Flowers”), Ariana Grande (“We Can’t Be Friends”) or Billie Eilish (“Birds of a Feather”). The revelation of the year is him!
