The singer and keyboardist died in 2022 following a stroke. “ It was quite strange, because there had not been the slightest warning signNick said. We got a call, and I was going to rent a plane to go see her, but her family told us, “Don’t come, because she might not be here tomorrow.” And the next day she died. I wanted to go there and sit on his bed and sing songs to him – which would definitely have made him die faster. But I needed to be with her. And I couldn’t do it. It was very hard for me. When McVie retired from the group in 1998, the remaining members, Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham, formed a quartet. McVie returned in 2014, but long-simmering tensions between Nicks and Buckingham boiled over four years later, and the group fired Buckingham. They toured in 2018-19 with Mike Campbell and Neil Finn replacing him.
