After “The Night Agent”, another novel by author Matthew Quirk is in development, “The 500”, for Prime Video.

While The Night Agent with Gabriel Basso was the most watched series on Netflix in 2023, Prime Video intends to find its new hit with The 500, currently in development.

Published in 2014, The 500 is the debut novel by Matthew Quirk, as well as the first in his Mike Ford series. David Weil (creator of Hunters) and Natalie Williams will also produce the series as part of their overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Having begun his career as a journalist at The Atlantic, Matthew Quirk published The Directive in 2014 after The 500. He is also known for his John Hayes series, as well as standalone novels such as Hour of the Assassin, Red Warning And Inside Threat.

A seasoned screenwriter behind the camera

Previously, he was responsible for writing Mimi Cave’s thriller Holland, Michigan, starring Nicole Kidman, Gael García Bernal and Matthew Macfadyen, for Amazon MGM Studios, for which a release date is awaiting.

Before that, Andrew Sodroski wrote and produced two seasons of the true-life anthology series, Manhunt. The first season, Unabomber, earned a WGA Award nomination, and the second, Deadly Games, was the most-watched series on Netflix for several weeks, with nearly a billion minutes watched.
