The new progressive metal duo (French) Mirar surprises with their first EP, Mare

The Progressive Metal scene has been in turmoil since Mirar, a new French instrumental duo, released their highly anticipated debut EP, Mare. Made up of Marius Elfstedt and Léo Watremez, Mirar brings a fresh and innovative approach to the genre, blending classical influences with an aggressive djent style, influenced by Vildhjarta.

Expressing their gratitude to their growing fanbase, the band said: “Thank you for all the support you have given us from the beginning until today. We’re excited to share our debut EP, and we hope you enjoy it.” Fans can purchase the EP on Bandcamp to show their support and enjoy the meticulously crafted tracks.

Produced by Léo Watremez, Mare is inspired by classical compositions. The EP incorporates elements of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Bach’s Invention No. 13 and the pieces “Les Cyclopes” and “Les Sauvages” by Jean-Philippe Rameau. This fusion of classical music and progressive metal creates a unique and captivating soundscape, which allows Mirar to stand out in the underground metal scene.

The duo’s technical prowess and innovative approach, both aggressive and sophisticated, have already earned them praise from many fans. You can check it out below and make up your own mind.
