Deftones releases a recap video of the 2024 edition of its Dia De Los Deftones festival.
A landmark festival in San Diego
The group Deftones shared a recap video of the 2024 edition of its festival, Deftones Daywhich took place on November 2 at Petco Park in San Diego. After a break of several years, the festival returned with a vengeance in 2022 and continues to attract a large audience. This year, Deftones shared the stage with a varied lineup, bringing together bands like IDLES, Sunny Day Real Estate (who played their album Diary in its entirety), Health, Paris Texas, Duster, Gel, and Qendresa.

Rare titles and exclusive performances
For this edition, Deftones offered a set of 20 songs, with some pieces rarely played in concert, notably Lhabia, Beauty Schoolet Hexagramsongs that had not been performed since 2018. They also surprised fans with a cover of Ghosts from Japan, performed live for the first time. Singer Chino Moreno had already expressed the idea behind Deftones Dayexplaining that the festival is like a live “mix tape,” where different artists are brought together for an event that the band would enjoy even without playing there.
Towards a new album in 2025
Deftones have just finished recording their next studio album, a collaboration with producer Nick Raskulinecz, known for his work with Rush, Mastodon and Alice In Chains. This new opus will mark the group’s third collaboration with Raskulinecz, after the albums Diamond Eyes (2010) et Koi No Yokan (2012).
As of 2022, Fred Sablan joined Deftones as touring bassist following the departure of Sergio Vega. Lance Jackman, known for his work with Sacramento bands, also joined the lineup as a second guitarist to bolster its live sound.
