World triumph, we haven’t finished hearing about The Bridgerton Chronicles. The third season, broadcast in two parts, was once again a great success on Netflix, the series appearing at the time of writing at the top of the most watched shows of the moment on the platform with the red N. And while all its episodes are now online, fans are already impatient to find their favorite heroes in the next season 4, which has indeed been confirmed by Netflix.
Unfortunately, it won’t be right away. Indeed, if we do not have an exact date, we must expect that the next episodes will not be released before 2025, or even probably 2026, since we had to wait two years between the release of the season 2 and this new season 3.
While the release date of the next season 4 remains a mystery, it seems that we already have a small idea of the plot, and more precisely of the character who could be at the center of this future chapter.
Bridgerton: which character will be at the heart of season 4?
By giving interviews so much, fatigue sets in and a blunder can quickly happen… This is perhaps what happened to Luke Newton, the interpreter of Colin Bridgerton, when he was interviewed by the Mexican site The BMan. It seems that the actor has inadvertently revealed the name of the next hero of season 4 of The Bridgerton Chronicles. Wanting to mention that he would have really liked to also play Benedict Bridgerton, the actor would have said a little too much:
“He’s a free spirit and a rebel in a way. I can’t wait to see Benedict’s story next season.”
A little sentence that could say a lot about the next hero of the series. But let’s not get too excited, because this remains to be confirmed, although the clues about a season 4 centered on the second brother of the siblings are starting to multiply.
Indeed, Nicola Coughlan (Penelope) posted a photo on Instagram, on which a post-it is stuck on an ice cream with Sophie’s name. However, if we stick to the novels, Sophie would be a servant of the Bridgerton family with whom Benedict falls in love.
Benedict Bridgerton’s story finally told?
Let us also remember that Benedict Bridgerton should have been at the center of the third season, but showrunner Jess Brownell did not really follow the order of the books for this Netflix adaptation. A choice that she fully accepts, explaining in an interview for Entertainment Weekly that “Benedict is such a funny character, a fan favorite and we’re excited to have fun with him a little longer before he settles down.“
Will the series, which has already taken some liberties, take others? Like, for example, highlighting the queer community? A theme requested by some fans, and for which the director does not close any doors: “I can’t talk specifically about Benedict because I don’t want to spoil anything. But it’s a series that talks about love, in all its forms. So it makes sense to explore homosexuality. I want to see positive representation of the queer community on screen. It remains to be seen how this will be seen in future seasons.“
