Lacrim’s clear opinion on YouTubers who have become rappers

Lacrim recently spoke about the phenomenon of Youtubers getting into rap, during a Twitch live with the DVM team. On the occasion of the release of his new album “Veni Vedi Vici“, the rapper gave his opinion on artists like Mister V or Theodort.

Lacrim speaks out about YouTubers who take up rap!

It does not bother me. Rap is not mineconfesses Lacrim on Youtubers who become rappers before explaining his way of thinking by contrasting it with boxing. “It’s different from boxing, you’re going to get in the ring, knock out a guy to get your money. There, I’m making my album. If I work well, the public will like it, I will succeed. Whatever you do, make your music.” then he specifies that if listeners adhere to the project, this is positive. Although he sees no problem with Youtubers diversifying and doing rap, Karim Zenoud nevertheless fears market saturation.

“If now there are 92% of YouTubers flooding French rap and there is no more rap. And we have no more space, we are boycotted, the youngest can no longer do it, I will perhaps say that it is no longer logical”did he declare. Lacrim believes that rap is a space open to all, but that the balance must be preserved. He encourages YouTubers to make their music, but calls for a certain measure to prevent rap from being overwhelmed by artists from other universes. This position of the author of the RIPRO mixtapes joins the reflections of other rappers like Booba who have raised in recent months the question of the legitimacy of Youtubers in rap.

A debate which raises questions about the evolution of the genre and the place of the different actors in its landscape.
