Min Hee-jin Talks About NewJeans’ Future After Their Contract Ends

At a press conference held on May 31 at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, Min Hee-jin shared her vision for NewJeans Group and herself at ADOR’s extraordinary general meeting.

“My wish for NewJeans and for myself is simply to live happily. These young girls joined the group with the desire to become celebrities and artists, attracted by the prestige of a big company, without really understanding what that entails. They entered the industry without knowing the system. The main thing is how we train, guide and shape them as individuals,” she said.

Min went on to explain that the contract period should be seen as a learning experience. “They should use these seven years to study and prepare for a future where they can support themselves. When they grow up, they will want to follow their own path. They must learn to be independent in order to be able to make free choices later. If I continue to give them everything ready-made, how will they be able to fend for themselves later? »

She added: “I want them to become cool artists or, if they are tired after seven years of hard work, to pursue other dreams, like studying abroad or getting married. I hope they will then live the life they want. »

Min Hee-jin talks about the future of NewJeans after the end of their K-Sélection contract

Min expressed his belief that “renewing contracts for the company’s profit is harmful. This vision might be unprecedented in the K-pop industry. Members and their parents might find my vision interesting and amusing.

I don’t like the stagnation in the K-pop scene. She needs diversity. If we stay true to our style while other styles become popular, it keeps the excitement going. This diversity is what makes things fun. By succeeding financially with such an approach, we can become a good business model. »

Min Hee-jin thus stands out as an innovative figurehead in a sector often criticized for its exploitation of young talents. Its approach, focused on the well-being and future independence of NewJeans members, resonates as a desirable and bold paradigm shift in the industry.
