OH MY GIRL’s Arin has won a lawsuit against a video game company for which she served as a model.
On October 17, media reported that the Seoul Central District Civil Court judge ruled in favor of some of Arin’s claims in a case filed by WM Entertainment. The court ordered mobile game company ‘A’ and advertising production company ‘B’ to jointly pay all of Arin’s model commissions amounting to 198 million won (133,000 euros) + damages and interest for late payment.
In June last year, Company A signed a contract with Company B, and allegedly transferred to Company B the funds for Arin’s payment (the 133,000 euros) + half of the production expenses for the advertisements television (115.5 million won, or 77,600 euros).
Arin then signed a contract with A and B respectively, and then appeared in advertising as a model. The advertisement in question was broadcast during the month of August last year, so the facts date back more than a year.
According to the contract signed at the time between the different parties, A and B were required to pay Arin’s commission within 30 days after the first broadcast of the advertisement, but Arin’s agency never received payment from both companies.
During the trial, Company A expressed:
“Arin’s model fee was to be paid to his agency by Company B, and we have already paid the model fee to Company B.”
The court, however, considers that the two companies are at fault because the contract stipulates that the two companies are held responsible in the event of non-payment made to Arin.
