In an interview in English broadcast on Sunday evening on Forum, Nemo, cheerful and calm at the same time, said he had gone through moments “not always easy but also extraordinary”. He is delighted to have been able, with his victory, to put “a spotlight on Swiss culture and the Swiss music scene”.

Asked about Céline Dion, winner of the same competition in 1988 for Switzerland, Nemo admitted to being a big fan of the Quebec star. He paid tribute to her in a clip that was a hit on Spotify, where he wears “the dress that Céline had on when she won, to show her my respect,” he stressed. “I think of her a lot, I’m honored to be on the same list of winners as her.”

Nemo added that before the competition he had felt the support of the Swiss public in all the cities, and in particular his own, Bienne. “It’s crazy, this buzz, this love for the song. I got all this positive energy.”

The artist further said, regarding Eurovision’s message of unity: “More than ever, it is important to have a conversation about our vision for the future. I hope that Eurovision will live up to its mission of being a space of peace.” Organizing the next edition in Switzerland seems to him to be a perfect opportunity.
