Mötley Crüe unveils its new EP Canceled, with a nod to the Beastie Boys.

Mötley Crüe releases EP Canceled (with new cover)

Mötley Crüe recently unveiled their new EP titled Canceled, consisting of three tracks. These tracks include Canceled, Dogs Of War and a cover of the Beastie Boys (You Gotta) classic Fight For Your Right (To Party!). All of these tracks were recorded in April 2023 with their longtime producer, Bob Rock.

In a joint statement, the group expressed their enthusiasm: “It was really great to be back in the studio working on these songs together. What started as a few demo ideas eventually became this Bob Rock-produced EP. We can’t wait to get back in the studio soon to write even more new songs.”

Mötley Crüe’s version of the song Fight For Your Right quickly became a fan favorite, after being performed for the first time at a surprise concert at The Underworld club in London in 2023. The 450 fans in attendance were in for a surprise of their lives upon discovering that the group announced under the name Dögs Of War was in reality Mötley Crüe.

Canceled EP tracklist:

  • 01. Cancelled
  • 02. Dogs Of War
  • 03. Fight For Your Right

A new era and an artistic provocation with Canceled

Drummer Tommy Lee explained on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast that the idea for the title Cancelled came about when the band realized they had surprisingly fallen through the cracks of “cancel culture”. “There was this article that said, ‘How come Mötley Crüe was never canceled?’ And we were like, ‘Fuck, we need to write a song about this, because this has never happened to us.’ We escaped all that.”

Canceled also marks Mötley Crüe’s first collaboration with Big Machine Records since their 2014 project, Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute To Mötley Crüe, where country stars like Rascal Flatts and Florida Georgia Line covered their classics.

With Canceled, Mötley Crüe returns with a vengeance, while continuing to explore new artistic directions.
