While she has just postponed a concert and was recently hospitalized for pneumonia, Véronique Sanson is once again going through a difficult period. A habit, unfortunately, for this battered artist, who despite everything maintains an addiction that is so dangerous and worrying for her health…

Nothing is going well for Véronique Sanson. Such an atypical personality on the French music scene, an outstanding pianist and singer with a golden voice, the septuagenarian has faced many demons in her life. Aware of not having spared herself, notably through alcohol and, for a time, drugs, she pays the price for her excesses. This is how she described being diminished on “Paris Match” a few weeks ago, but not without keeping her spirits up:

There are things I can no longer do, I have osteoarthritis in my hands. But still, I think it’s okay, I have plenty of energy. Obviously, when you feel good in your body, you normally feel good in your head.

Despite the warnings, Véronique Sanson still addicted

Unfortunately, these remarks were contradicted by the latest information concerning the interpreter of “Song about my funny life”. Hospitalized for pneumonia, and forced to cancel her concert, Véronique Sanson is not in the best shape. And to make matters worse, the one who confided smoking a pack of cigarettes a day to “Libération” (consumption “on the rise”, editor’s note) does not seem to have pulled the handbrake:

I smoke a lot. I can’t stop.

A necessarily worrying situation given his age, his long decades of consumption, and his fragile health. In the past, already, the one who shared Michel Berger’s life had to fight against a whole host of illnesses, which she readily lists:

Lymphocytic meningitis, fractures, melancholic depression and other breast or throat cancers…

Very grateful to all the hospital and medical staff who allowed her to overcome the crab, Véronique Sanson mentioned counting on “her guardian angel”. Let’s hope that the latter will be there again to allow the artist to heal, then to return to the stage and the public. Moreover, it is indeed on the stage, in front of the crowd, that she feels safest, far from health concerns and the worries of the real world:

But I also know that I’ve played with broken wrists, broken fingers, broken ribs and every time I’ve gone for it. Because as soon as I step on stage, the pain goes away. The scene makes me feel good, but it’s a form of schizophrenia. Because we are no longer the same person at all. In front of the public, I feel like someone else.

Let us wish Véronique Sanson to recover quickly and to get out of this decidedly very delicate period as quickly as possible. Hoping this new alert convinces her to quit smoking once and for all. Because to continue would be to expose oneself to serious risks, which even the famous guardian angel might not be enough to stop…
