Hwasa recently made an honest confession about her trainee days.
On September 17, Hwasa appeared as a guest on Jonathan’s YouTube show “The K-Star Next Door.” During the episode, Jonathan discussed the MAMAMOO member’s rebellious side, asking her if she had any anecdotes about her assertive behavior.
Hwasa then shared that she weighed 60 kilograms when she was a trainee, and that her agency’s CEO ordered her to reduce her weight to 48 kilograms if she wanted to have a chance of debuting. The singer then explained that despite her best efforts, she reduced her weight to 49 kilograms, but was unable to reach the 48 kilograms requested by her CEO.

Angry at this reaction from her CEO, she got into an argument with him to express that she was not happy with his reaction, and then vented her anger by writing a song that she called “My Heart”. She then emailed the song in question to her CEO, and confessed:
“What my boss expected to receive was an apology. So he was surprised by my response.”
Hwasa expected to be reprimanded for doing this, but that’s how she earned points with her CEO, who loved her rebellious side and her way of not accepting what was imposed on her. Looking back, Hwasa explains that she found it dangerous but cool because she wanted to assert her feelings, but she understands that trainees rarely get the opportunity to assert themselves in a system that unfortunately considers them easily replaceable.
