Discover in pictures the Belarusian version of “The Big Bang Theory”, a plagiarism withdrawn from the air after only a few episodes broadcast.

A successful series sometimes gives rise to remakes transposed into the local language and culture, such as BeTipul, an Israeli series that became In Treatment in the United States and En Thérapie in . But these are legal remakes, with the agreement of the rights holders and creators of the original series. There are times when the remake is… less official.

We then talk about plagiarism, and one of the most egregious cases to date is that of The Big Bang Theory. The creator of the American series about “nerd” scientists and their relationships with the fairer sex, Chuck Lorre, revealed in a communicated on February 9, 2010 having spotted a Belarusian series with disturbing similarities with his show.

A new series The Big Bang Theory is in preparation after Young Sheldon

And it gets even better!

From the accelerated credits to the costumes, including the heroes’ personalities and their haircuts: everything is reminiscent of The Big Bang Theory, but there’s even better. The Belarusian cast and crew were convinced that the rights issue had been resolved by the producers and that they were filming an official remake of the American series!

One of the actors of the series, Dmitriy Tankovich, shared his rejection this way:

“I’m sad, (…) because initially the cast was told that all legal issues related to the show were resolved. We didn’t know that wasn’t the case, so when there was a reaction from the creators of The Big Bang Theory, I personally was confused (…) I think this is the most disastrous period of my creative career And I don’t want to continue participating in this. pirate project.”

The series was canceled on February 18, 2010, after disastrous public feedback from the moment they knew the series was plagiarism. While it maintained that there was no problem, the chain eventually recognized that it was better to stop the charges.
