Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), certain villains have been created because of the evil deeds of Earth’s greatest heroes. Indeed, in some cases, it was the Avengers who gave birth to their greatest enemies. Here are the ten super-villains who would probably never have existed without the intervention of the Avengers.
whiplash
Embodied by mickey rourke In Iron Man 2, Whiplash seeks, basic, to clear the name of his father, tainted by that of Howard Stark. While Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) could probably have solved this problem by diplomatic channel, his ego does not allow him to deal with Ivan Vanko. The latter then joins forces with Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), which gives him access to his technology, and creates his own armor to destroy the Stark Empire.
Aldrich Killian
Decidedly, Tony Stark should watch his behavior more. It would save him from giving birth to resentful and vengeful supervillains. Because history repeats itself in Iron Man 3. Somewhere in the past, Tony Stark disrespected Aldrich Killian, camped by Guy Pearce. He shattered his credibility in the eyes of the scientific population. Years later, Aldrich Killian creates the Extremis virus. working for AIMa terrorist organization, he uses the Extremis virus to become the best version of himself and thus to carry out his revenge against Tony Stark.
Brother and Sister Maximoff
Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson) and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) are brother and sister. Considered as Optimized, improved by the Baron Struckermember of HYDRA, brother and sister Maximoff vow a deep hatred towards Tony Stark (again him for God’s sake) since a Stark Industries missile is responsible for the death of their parents. Since then, this duo of Optimized sees the Western world as a rot to be cleaned. And they decide to join forces with Ultron to destroy the Avengers. Since then, they have changed sides, and joined the Avengers.
Ultron
When we tell you that Tony Stark is the worst of the bunch. ‘Cause it’s her fault again if Ultron see the day. Indeed, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) decide to use Loki’s scepter to create an artificial intelligence capable of defending the Earth against alien threats. Except things don’t go as planned, and the friendly AI quickly transforms into Ultron. His mission : save the Earth. But to save the planet, Ultron sees only one solution: eradicate the human race…
Baron Zemo
It is the first of this list which is not created by the Tony Stark negligence. Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl) decides to stand up against the Avengers after the terrible battle in Sokovia, which resulted in many civilian casualties. Zemo loses his family in the brawl between the Avengers and Ultron and decides to eliminate Earth’s greatest heroes. Except Zemo knows he’s no match for it. He then uses Bucky to bequeath the Avengers against each other In Captain America: Civil War.
The vulture
If Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) becomes the Vulture, It’s still because of Iron Man. Indeed, at base, Adrian Toomes works for the Department of Damage Control and helps clean up the battlefields after the Avengers come through. After the Avengers battle against the Chitauri in the first avengers, Adrian Toomes collects alien technology and that of Tony Stark to create his own arsenal and become the Vulture.
Mysterio
Another villain who vows deep hatred towards Tony Stark. Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) initially works for Stark Industries. It is thanks to him that Stark can create his artificial intelligence BARF, which gives birth to Karen, descendant of JARVIS, present in the saga Spiderman. Except Tony Stark decides to fire Quentin Beck and his team and keep BARF for himself. Quentin Beck then goes into a mad rage, and sets up a plan to recover his technology. With other employees thanked by Stark, he traps Peter Parker (Tom Holland), then in possession of Karen, to recover his invention. Obviously, the weaver is not going to let Quentin Beck, then become Mysterio.
Flag Smashers
If the Hulk saves many lives when he uses the Infinity Gauntlet to bring back victims of Thanos’ Snap, it has created a social imbalance. For 5 years, entire families disappeared. During this time, their homes, their jobs, their loved ones disappeared or were given to others. When Banner turns the tideall those who came back found themselves in a different world, where their universe no longer exists. The Flag Smasherspresent in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, therefore decided to create anarchy. Their goal is to recover the super-soldier’s serum to create a world in their image.
The Skrulls
Thanks to the series Secret Invasionwe have just learned that the Skrulls have bequeathed themselves against humanity because of the failure of Nick Fury (Samuel L.Jackson). The latter indeed promised the Skrulls, after the events of Captain Marvelto find them a new home. Except that the former director of SHIELD failed in his task. Worse, he left Earth to lock himself away in a secret government space agency. Faced with this failure, Gravik galvanized the Skrulls into taking over Earth.
Killmonger
Initially, Killmonger (Michael B.Jordan) was born in Wakanda, this fictional country in Africa where Vibranium comes from. Except her father was a traitor who sold some of Wakanda’s technology to the Americans. After the death of his father, Killmonger grew up in the United States, abandoned by his people, and his king T’Chaka (who is incidentally his uncle), the father of the Black Panther. He eventually learns of Wakanda’s existence and decides to go there to take revenge on the royal family and claim the throne. If the Wakandans had taken the young man under their wings, despite his father’s treachery, Killmonger would surely not have become an ally of his people, and would have been a very useful warrior for Wakanda.
