creepy trailer for the film Opus, with John Malkovich

The first trailer forOpus by Mark Anthony Green, a psychological horror film which will explore the notion of the cult of personality from a twisted angle, is very tempting.

This is a great move by the young director and screenwriter Mark Anthony Green since his first feature film, Opus, was produced by the prestigious A24 house. The production company of Daniel Katz, David Fenkel and John Hodges is recognized for its flair, and has already produced great horror successes like Heredity, Midsummer et The Witch. Without forgetting of course the phenomenon Everything Everywhere All at Oncecrowned by 7 Oscars.

For his debut behind the camera, Mark Anthony Green also surrounded himself with a great cast, including John Malkovich on front of Ayo Edebirithe revelation of the series The Bear. The cast will also include Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), Amber Midthunder (Prey) and Tony Hale (Arrested Development).

The first trailer forOpus has just been revealed, with John Malkovich who seems very comfortable as a crazy star.

Opus : Cult of the Lamb

The trailer forOpus deploys a disturbing atmosphere, where Ariel Ecton (Ayo Edebiri), young journalist who doesn't want it in search of the perfect story, is invited to the isolated enclosure of singer Alfred Moretti (John Malkovich).

Having disappeared from the public scene for thirty years, this mysterious Moretti is preparing his return by unveiling his new album during an exclusive weekend bringing together his most loyal followers and journalists. Soon, Ariel was confronted with increasingly twisted behavior from the star's fans, suggesting that this Alfred Moretti could lead a cult.

In the shoes of John Malkovich

Mark Anthony Green's film should explore the blurred boundaries between star adulation and religious fanaticism, and offer a reflection on the nature of celebrity and its excesses, all wrapped up in a horrific thriller that we hope will be cut on the line. And it will be the opportunity to find Ayo Edibiri in the forefront in a film, after the success of the series The Bear which propelled her to the forefront.

Opus will make its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 27, 2025, in the Midnight section, reserved for genre cinema. The film is scheduled to be released theatrically on March 14, 2025 in the United States..

No release date has yet been confirmed for but we await it with great curiosity.
