This weekend of January 18-19an unusual animation runs through the premises of Enedis in Fougères (Ille-et-Vilaine). The company agreed to lend its building to store the dons received by the association Bougé-Bougédestined for Mayotte.
Nassai Madi, who chairs it, has barely come back from seeing the volume clothing, food and other hygiene products collected. Mahorais by birth and resident of Fougères, he launched, in December, a major appeal after the passage of Cyclone Desire in Mayotte. “My family and many relatives are there, they described to me all the damage and I understood that we had to act,” he says.
Donations shipped by container
A month later, the solidarity was there. Corridors and rooms of Enedis overflowing with cartons pasta, rice, canned goods, clothing or even dressings and medicines. “The collection was really followed. It is touching to see all these donations and the great solidarity which has been put in place,” supports Nassai Madi.
By his side, his companion Pauline, friends and volunteers organize the logistics. All donations are sorted by categorythen placed in cartonsthemselves arranged on palettes before being loaded into a truck chartered by Savencia. THE milk giantfor whom Nassai works, has indeed agreed to sustain the approach, as Enedis did at the request of one of its employeesalso involved in this great collection.
Savencia finance a containerwhich will be loaded at the end of January and will then leave by boat for the devastated island. “Considering everything we have harvestwe may even need a second container ! », adds Nassai.
-” On placedonations will be sent to three associations locales who will take care of the distribution », he adds. “For us, it’s very important to mobilize the most locally possible, so that the Mahorais can get by by themselves without having to ask. And above all, these local associations know precisely the needs of the inhabitants. »
An action in a tobacco bar
In Fougères, the collectionalso benefits from donations collected by Mahorais associations based in Valves , Saint-Brieucet Loudéac . “There is also an association of Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët and the Red Cross gave us things. In exchange, moreover, we will give him the winter clothes that we have received and which are not adapted to the climate of Mayotte,” continues Nassai Madi.
This weekend, dedicated to loading of a truck, will be followed by another, similar, on January 25 and 26. In the meantime, the association continues to collect material donations throughout week (with the exception of clothes, of which she already has a large number). A point of deposit is therefore available at the Ateliers (rue des Frères-Dévéria) and anyone wishing to help can also contact Nassai Madi (contact details at end of article).
Furthermore, a partnershipwas established with the My lovetobacco bar located 2, bd Charles-Tillon. THE January 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., part of the consumptionwill be donated to support the collection.
