Over its long history, the Marvel superhero universe has seen an innumerable number of couples forming, breaking up, mending… Most of the characters in the House of Ideas have only had one romantic relationship, and some of them are even known as real womanizers. Few of these sentimental stories have been adapted into the MCU, and that needs to be fixed! On the occasion of the arrival of Doctor Doom, we would dream of seeing his “forbidden romance” with an X-Woman transposed to the screen : find out which one and why below.
The love lives of superheroes neglected by the MCU
Since the MCU's debut in 2008, several couples were formedwhether between superheroes (Wanda Maximoff and the Vision, Peter Quill and Gamora, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne) or between vigilante and “ordinary citizen” (Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, Thor and Jane Foster). However, over the years, the characters' love lives have more or less been neglected by Marvelwhen it did not simply end with tragedy, namely the disappearance of one of the two lovers. Certainly, the small world of series has seen the emergence of new coupleslike Loki and Sylvie or Agatha Harkness and Death, but these remained confined to Disney +. However, spectators are fond of sentimental stories, which are so numerous in Marvel comics. With the arrival of new blood in the MCU, including Fantastic 4 and X-Mentwo famous mixed and rather sexy teams, it is time to remedy this lack. And what better way to do that thana “forbidden romance” between a bad guy and a vigilante?
The romantic tension between Doom and Tornado explored by Marvel
Yes: Dr. Doom has a crush on the powerful X-Woman, and it's mutual! Marvel comics have been exploring the latent tension between these two characters for years, without ever having taken the step of presenting them as a couple. Over the years, Ororo Munroe has had several companions, from Black Panther to Forge to Wolverine… However, nothing as intriguing or exciting as his flirtation with his enemy Doom! Especially since for several months, the bad guy has been everywhere. He will soon join the MCU in the guise of Robert Downey Jr., and he is at the heart of One World Under Doomand event celebrating his appointment as the new Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe. The villain wants to be Emperor of the World, and it is not uncommon in fiction, this type of megalomaniac wants a powerful woman at his side to reign.
To cite just two recent examples among many others, Kylo Ren wanted to conquer the galaxy with Rey in the last trilogy Star Warswhile Halbrand and Galadriel experience a strong attraction in The Rings of Power. Since always, sexual and romantic tensions between enemies do not fail to spice up the intrigues, whether they materialize or not. The stakes of a romance between the terrible Fatalis, the Avengers' worst enemy since Thanos, and Tornado, an Omega mutant among the most powerful of the X-Men, would not fail to shake up an MCU that has become plan-plan. Already, in 1997, in Uncanny X-Men #145 (see above), the two characters enjoyed (a little too much) each other's company.
