Will the best pizza maker in France come from Toulouse ? THE qualifying events for the French Pizza Championship 2025, organized by the Association of French Pizzerias (APF), are stopping off in the Pink City. From Borgo (Corsica) to Montpellier (Hérault), via Reunion Island, 12 stages of this culinary competition are in fact planned across the four corners of France. And Monday January 20, 2025, the France Pizza Tourwill stop at the Métro store in Portet-sur-Garonne .
400 pizza makers to be decided on six criteria
Evaluated on a single product (the classic pizza), the 400 pizzaiolos registered will however be “judged on six essential criteria”, details the organizer: the preparation (dress, hygiene, diameter of the pizza, time, overall ease), the taste (the dough and the flavor combinations), the cooking, the impasto technique, THE culinary skillsand the dressage .
“An unmissable moment” for the profession
“The France Pizza Tour has become a real annual meeting for pizza makers, a unmissable moment which brings together talents from across the country,” argues Julien Panet,
president of the Association of French Pizzerias and organizer of the event. “The addition of a new stage in Reunion confirms this enthusiasm.”
We are still expecting more than 400 participants for this France Pizza Tour, one of the first culinary competitions in France and the largest.
Who are the six candidates from Haute-Garonne in the running?
Locally, 19 candidates are registered for the regional stage of this 19th edition of the France Pizza Tour. Six of them are from Haute-Garonne, they are:
- Clara Paiusco, Pizzeria La Païou to Brax
- Bastien Maysseng, Pizza Milo's in Saint-Alban
- Sébastien Lionel, Pizza Sorino in Saint-Gaudens
- Samir Douma, Basil Pizza in Toulouse
- Nidal Mansouri, Pizza Mongelli in Quint-Fonsegrives
- Yossef Pardo, Pizza Yoyo in Toulouse
Who can participate in this prestigious competition?
This competition is reserved for professional pizza makers, French and/or residents for at least two years in France, aged at least 17, indicates the association. People who have completed a pizza training course in an approved training center can also participate.
THE Top 10 candidatesof the Portet event – as on each of the stages -, will be qualified to participate in the grand final, which will be held on April 2 and 3, 2025 in Paris, during the Parizza Salon. It is on this occasion that the 19th will be crownede French pizza champion.
