Producer Jason Blum wanted to pay homage to William Friedkin’s film by adding a touch of modernity. “The Exorcist was revolutionary for its time and we were keen to pay homage to it with this new opus”he confided in the press kit for the film. He then added: “That was fifty years ago and since The Exorcist, thousands of horror films have been made so well that, for us, it was about telling an original story that makes you uncomfortable. We wanted to convey to the viewer the feeling of horror that a father or mother experiences when their world – their only child – is in danger. And we also wanted to show that, in such a situation, one must accept to question oneself. convictions to come to the aid of those who needs.”
