Next summer, 28 years later of the latest installment, the third film in the successful zombie saga will hit theaters, which seeks to become the great success of the horror genre in 2025. However, Sony did not want to waste time and, months before the launch of this new installment, has already announced the release date of its sequel.
According to the American media Variety, Columbia Pictures, a subsidiary of Sony, has confirmed that the next film in the saga will carry the title 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (The Temple of Bones, a name that could be adapted in Spain). Its premiere is scheduled for January 16, 2026.
The brief period between the release of one film and another has surprised many fans, since everything indicates that it will be a direct sequel to the installment that will be released in the summer of 2025. The direction of this fourth film will be by Nia DaCostaknown for her work on The Marvels and Candyman, while the script continues in the hands of Alex Garland, original screenwriter of the saga.
For now, the development status of the third film is unknown, but given the speed with which Sony is working, it is likely that filming will begin next year. Although it could have a different director, it seems that Alex Garland will still be involved as a screenwriter. 28 years later will hit theaters around the world on June 20, 2025.
