Mutants have often been ridiculed, isolated, marginalized, and tossed around by the Marvel Universe. X-Men and others are allegories of the Holocaust, segregation, or all movements of deprivation of freedoms. Very political characters who allow us to take a critical look at a society that is going badly. Here are 10 particularly violent events for mutants in the Marvel Comics universe:
10) The Brotherhood of Bad Mutants and the Club of the Damned
If the X-Men work for good, equality, respect and solidarity, some mutants do not see it that way. The two most famous groups of warlike mutants are The Brotherhood of Bad Mutants et The Club of the Damned. The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants was created by Magneto. A movement that brings together all mutants who seek to create hegemony over the rest of humans. Magneto and his followers work to regain control over their rights, even if it means subjugating the entire human species. The Club of the Damned is a group of notorious supervillains, primarily composed of rich elites who manipulate power and influence for their own ends. Often led by Sebastian Shawit is staged in X-Men: The Beginning. The problem with these radical groups is that they make a bad publicity for mutants and the X-Men. Because of their violent and often discredited actions, they give humans reasons of fear and rejection. Counterproductivethese extremist groups do not improve the cohabitation between humans and mutants.
9) Apocalypse
He is arguably the most powerful mutant in creation. Apocalypse has often been the toughest enemy of the X-Men. Violent, intransigent, almost omnipotent, Apocalypse sought to impose his political system on mutants and the human race, which he obviously considers a parasite. Often, the arrival of Apocalypse is synonymous with the age of Apocalypse. A story that often recurs throughout Marvel Comics history in which Apocalypse becomes king of the planet. Surrounded by his 4 cavaliersApocalypse takes advantage of the absence of Charles Xavier to take control of humanity and put it into slavery. All recalcitrant mutants suffered the wrath of Apocalypse. He rules the world with an iron fist, exterminating or enslaving humans and mutants who do not submit to his rule. Not great for mutant-human cohabitation.
8) Mr Sinistre
He might be the worst bastard in the X-Men universe. Mister Sinister regularly attempts to eliminate mutants on a large and small scale. Sinister can change his form and integrate the DNA of other mutantswhich allows him to acquire their powers. Nazi scientisthe used concentration camps to experiment on mutation. A true scourge for mutants, he uses them like laboratory animals to enslave and control them. He also created Madelyne Pryor, clone of Jean Gray and mother of Cable.
7) Wolverine
And yes, Wolverine led to the death of the X-Men. In the excellent comics Old Man LoganWolverine is responsible for the death of the X-Men. At the beginning of the story, Mysterio arrives at the school Charles Xavier. He takes over Logan's mind and makes him believe that supervillains are invading the school. Neither one, nor two, Wolverine does a real butchery in Professor X's establishment. No luck, it was in fact young students and Charles Xavier's X-Men. In a few particularly violent claw strokes, Wolverine wiped out the vast majority of the X-Men. A terrible starting point for Old Man Logan which tells how, in a post-apocalyptic era, supervillains have taken control of the planet.
6) Civil War
The Civil War leads to profound changes in the Marvel continuity. Due to Nitro, who killed more than 600 people during a clash with the New Warriorsthe American people and the US government are developing a deep distrust of supers. The government and Tony Stark then decide to pass a law to list all superheroes: le Superhero Registration Act. A law particularly frowned upon by some superheroes, which led to a civil war between the camp of Captain America and that ofIron Man. The problem is that this law, which aims to divide, identify and control, came shortly after the unconstitutional law Mutant Registration Actwhich aimed to list all mutants.
5) Legion
Legion, the son of Charles Xavier is one of the most powerful characters in the entire Marvel Universe. Omega Level Mutanthis mind is filled with varied and more or less dangerous personalities who take possession of his free will. It causes a lot of damage, to mutants and humans alike. Universal dangerhe is even responsible for the age of Apocalypse. In short, we won't give him the medal for best mutant. We also recommend the excellent series Legion around this cult character!
4) The Phoenix
The Phénix is one of the most powerful and iconic entities in the Marvel Universe, playing a central role in several story arcs of the X-Men. His arrival and his impact on the heroes, notably Jean Greyare marked by tragedies, power struggles, and spectacular transformations. The Phoenix is a primordial cosmic entity representing the force of life, destruction and rebirth. She is an integral part of the multiverse, being both a source of creation and an instrument of destruction. Associated with fire and resurrection, the Phoenix is immortal and infinitely powerful. Obviously, the Phoenix is a cosmic level threat to mutants but also to the rest of humanity…

After his act, it was reported that he remained less than two hundred mutants in the world. The number of students at Xavier's school has fallen to twenty-fiverepresenting an eighth of the world's mutant population and a last vestige of hope for an endangered species.
2) The end of Genosha
Genosha it is a bit the ancestor of Krakoa At the end of the 1990s, the mutants took refuge on a isolated island off the coast of South Africa called Genosha. From the start, things go wrong. Quickly, mutants on Genosha are enslaved by the present human population. An obvious parallel with the Shoah et slavery. Mutants wear numbers and no longer have any freedom, they are used for forced labor and humans experiment on them. Fortunately, Magneto comes to free the mutants and take control of the island. Genosha becomes an idyll for all the mutants, who find themselves reunited. Genosha becomes a symbol of equality and freedoms and Magneto makes amends by opening his doors to all mutants, even his political opponents. Except that humanity does not hear it that way and sends the Sentinels destroy everything. The robots of Tarsk make a real genocide and kill more than 16 million mutants.
