2025 will be a very special year for horror fans, as they will see the return of one of the most iconic “zombie” stories. Danny Boyle (Yesterday) y Alex Garland (Civil War) will join forces again in 28 years later.
This late sequel to 28 days laterwhich does not ignore the events of 28 weeks laterbut that returns to the saga to its roots, it was announced at the time as the beginning of a trilogy, although only the tandem of Boyle and Garland was confirmed for this first film.
There has been talk of the progress that has been made regarding a sequel that, according to one of the film's producers, was filmed consecutively. It was also indicated that the original title of this second installment of the trilogy would be 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple.
However, it is now that there is official confirmation of both the title of the sequel to 28 years later as well as the release date of the film, which will take almost no time to reach theaters compared to the 2025 film.
28 years later expands the roadmap of his trilogy
Sony Pictures has confirmed that the following movie will be titled 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (28 years later: The temple of bones), losing the “part II” of the title, a strategy that films like Mission Impossible: Final Judgment o Wicked: For Good.
The studio also confirms that the second film in the trilogy will be released on January 16, 2026just six months after the debut of 28 years later in summer 2025.
There are not many details of the plot and the cast members of 28 Years Later: The Bone Templebut it promises to be very continuous in terms of the actors, something for which, without a doubt, it has been filmed consecutively.
The 2025 film will feature in its cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Cillian Murphy, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, Edvin Ryding, Alfie Williams, Chi Lewis-Parry, Angus Neill y Joe Blakemore.
If there are no last minute changes, 28 years later will be released in theaters on June 22, 2025and six months later, we will have its sequel on the billboard. Regarding the third film of the trilogy, there is no news yet.
