Sonic, Sega’s blue hedgehog, will have a fourth film that will hit theaters in 2027 under the title ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 4’, as reported this Thursday, December 19, by the specialized media Variety.

Paramount Pictures’ announcement came before the third film in the franchise hits U.S. theaters this Friday, December 20, and select other international theaters on December 25.
However, details about the plot of this upcoming film have not been revealed yet.
According to the publication, the third installment, which again features the voice performances of Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz and incorporates Keanu Reeves, is expected to reach between 55 and 60 million dollars at the national box office at its premiere.
The first Sonic movie was released in 2020 under the direction of Jeff Flower and reached more than $319 million at the international box office, while the second made more than $405 million.
In the third Sonic saga, also directed by Fowler and written by Pat Casey, Josh Miller and John Whittington, the famous and fast blue hedgehog will have to protect the planet from an antihero named Shadow, a vengeful and mysterious hedgehog played by Reeves, which is the antithesis of the protagonist.
‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ is based on the popular Sega video game franchise, which first appeared in 1991.
