Today there are amusement parks of everything one can imagine. Not only have the most popular pets earned their place, we can visit ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ or even ‘Twilight’ attractions, if we want.
That is why it is very strange that a character as popular as Batman has not had his own park to boast about. On one occasion it was very close to happening, but finally the studio put the brakes on the project. Conceptual images of the canceled “Gotham Land” have resurfaced over the years, showing a handful of attractions that would have made a character park look great.
would have belonged to Cartoon Worldthe company’s second park that was being considered after Universal Studios Orlando. Steven Spielberg ended up winning in the IP fightsince the success of ‘Jurassic Park’ encouraged Universal to approve a concept more along the lines of adventure cinema, which ended up giving rise to Islands of Adventure, also in Orlando.
Of the proposed attractions, the most notable was a dark ride that He would have taken us with the Batmobile to the Ace Chemicals factoryin a recreation of the mythical comic origin of the Joker. The entire park would have actually been a recreation of Gotham that we could explore, including a nightclub in the Batcave and a theater that would have shown a 4D Batman and Robin series.
Despite the cancellation, Batman has still had presence in several parks associated with their brand, from being the protagonist of one of the best attractions in the Warner Park in Madrid to proposing another small recreation of Gotham in the Warner Bros. World in Abu Dhabi. Even so, the most batmanic will miss this own project.
