If Deadpool & Wolverine was greatly appreciated by the public, what can we say about this production released a little over a month ago! Better rated than the Marvel blockbuster, this film focuses on a single iconic Pop Culture character, or at least, on the actor who plays him…

The feature film was directed by Peter Ettedgui and Ian Bonhôte, the two men previously worked on the biopic of Alexander McQueen, the famous fashion designer. This is the first time that DC Studios has co-distributed a documentary of this type. In comparison, Marvel has broadcast four productions of the genre, including MPoweran animated series celebrating the women involved in the company's projects.

A Superman

What is a hero? I thought he was someone who could engage in the greatest actions without considering the consequences. Now my definition would be completely different. I believe a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in the face of overwhelming consequences. – Christopher Reeve, in the documentary trailer.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story traces the career and personal history of Christopher Reeve, the one who plays the emblematic character in the red cape, the hero he played between 1978 and 1987. The work contains images from personal archives, extracts from the films, but also testimonies not only from his friends, like Robin Williams, but also from his family: his wife and children.

The film discusses his horse riding accident which paralyzed him and left him unable to walk and live on his own. An event that pushed him to invest body and soul in the cause of paralyzed people. By creating his foundation with his wife, the “Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation”, the couple managed to legislate a law under Barack Obama, the Paralysis Act. A law to improve the healthcare system for people with spinal cord injuries.

>The film is not shy when it comes to discussing his faults as an activist. He initially wanted to focus on research at the expense of investing in quality of life and care. – Ian Murray, editor at Empire.

A feature film starring Superman, played by David Corenswet this time, is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
