Netflix: it’s the most anticipated action film of this summer, and here is its trailer – Cinema News

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for The Union, an action film starring Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg, expected on August 16.

While Riposte with Jessica Alba has taken the lead in the top 10 since its launch, Netflix is already preparing the rest of the festivities. The platform has just revealed the trailer for The Union, a particularly anticipated film since it stars Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg.

The latter plays Mike, a construction worker from New Jersey and a pragmatic boy, who finds himself immersed in the world of spies when his high school ex-girlfriend Roxanne hires him for a high-risk mission… for the account of the American secret services.

The first images of The Union announce a muscular film, packed with action and tinged with comedy. With this new production, Netflix is therefore not going off the beaten track but is banking more on its two headliners than on its storyline, which smacks of déjà vu. And that could be enough to become the hit of the summer.

Talents that attract

And we understand Netflix’s strategy. The platform is not its first collaboration with these two players, who each time attract a large number of subscribers. In 2020, Wahlberg starred in Spenser Confidential, a detective comedy which was a hit. Last year, we found him in the buddy movie Me Time with Kevin Hart.

If we don’t know exactly the budget of The Union, we know that Netflix paid a 7-figure sum to acquire the rights from the actor and his screenwriter David Guggenheim.

As for Halle Berry, she has also multiplied projects with the SVOD giant. If her last film was ultimately deprived of release, thanks to Netflix she was able to move behind the camera in 2021 with Murdered.

If The Union will certainly not be the film of the year, it brought together on screen two renowned actors who had never acted opposite each other until now. And for that alone, we will be there on August 16.
