A rather enthusiastic review and a five-star cast, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was not a tidal wave in American cinemas. Released three months ago in Uncle Sam’s country, Guy Ritchie’s new film only grossed (only) 9 million dollars at the end of its first weekend operating. With a budget of 60 million excluding marketing costs, the operation was a priori far from profitable. The absence of a French release date was not the most reassuring, suggesting a new failure for Guy Ritchie and Henry Cavill. But that was without counting on the involvement of Amazon MGM, which had other plans for this Inglorious Basterds with sauce Kingsman.

Determined to endow its catalog with beautiful productions and prestigious collaborations, the company was instead banking on its platform to make a profit. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was only shown on a limited number of screens in the United States, proving that interest lay elsewhere. It is within its offer that Prime Video hopes to cover its investment. The film, which changes its name for the occasion, is preparing for its arrival in France. In a few days, July 25 preciselythe French public will finally be able to lay eyes on The Ministry of Dirty War.

Big arms

“If Hitler doesn’t play fair, just do the same.”. Inspired by the eponymous work by Damien Lewis, The Ministry of the Dirty War will immerse viewers in 1941 as the United Kingdom attempts to prevent Nazi Germany from controlling Europe. London is under fire from bombings, the situation is getting worse and Brigadier Colin Gubbins recruits unconventional heroes to foil Hitler’s plans. Gus March-Phillips and his men and women must, in the greatest secrecy, disrupt the supply of Nazi submarines on a Spanish island. Anything goes, and no one will be spared.

Henry Cavill is leading this team which includes Alan Ritchson (Reacher), Eiza Gonzalez (The 3-body problem), Alex Pettyfer (Number four), Heros Fiennes Tiffin (After), Babs Olusanmokun (An angry man), Cary Elwes (Rebel Moon) et Henry Golding (The Gentlemen). Guy Ritchie is directing and writing the screenplay. The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, to whom we owe the sagas Pirates of the Caribbean et Top Gun. The appointment is made for July 25 on Prime Video. To promote this upcoming release, the platform has put together a trailer in French. This is the opportunity for the film to demonstrate these arguments, namely big arms, an irreverent tone and a predisposition of its heroes to castagne.
