A ”revenge movie” in the heart of Brazil
After Franck Gastambide, alongside Anouar Toubali and Ramzy Bedia, logically chose Colombia for his film Medellinreleased on Prime Video on June 2, 2023, we stay on the South American continent for Kali. This time heading to Brazil for Lisa (Sabrina Ouazani), aka Kali, a former experienced and highly trained member of the Special Forces. One day, this true warrior sees her life turned upside down when Eric, her husband and agent in the customs department, is brutally murdered in Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city in the country after São Paulo.
Determined to take revenge by finding the person(s) responsible for this brutal assassination, Kali will first face accusations concerning her late husband, suspected by the French services of being potentially involved in vast drug trafficking. There is not a shadow of a doubt for the young woman, who categorically refuses to believe in this lead, considering that Eric was a “clean” agent.
A merciless hunt then begins. Crossing the country and venturing into the Brazilian jungle, Kali wants at all costs to make her husband’s murderers pay and thus bring the truth to light. One thing is certain: in order to obtain justice and avenge her husband, Kali will stop at nothing and will be ready for anything.
