Forget Henry Cavill, his replacement is impeccable in the superhero costume

While waiting for the first trailer for Superman: Legacy, set photos appear on the web and show us that David Corenswet wears the superhero costume as well as Henry Cavill.

Henry Cavill is leaving his projects which popularized him with the general public. While the actor leaves his place to Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, he will not put on the Superman costume again either. It is David Corenswet who takes up the character in Superman : Legacy by James Gunn, the head of the DC Comics cinematic universe. Some photos stolen from the set show that he wears the iconic outfit perfectly of the superhero.

Henry Cavill was slated to return to the DC Comics cinematic universe except that the theatrical failure of Black Adam with Dwayne Johnson canceled this project that fans were waiting for. James Gunn therefore made the decision to start from the beginning and to do this, Superman : Legacy is one of the flagship projects. The Cleveland site shares images of David Corenswet in the superhero costume and we must admit, the result is impeccable.

The Superman costume worn by David Corenswet takes several elements from the comics such as Kingdom Come. Obviously, since Zack Snyder is no longer there, the result is more colorful. Which will not surprise fans of James Gunn, directors of the films Guardians of the Galaxy at Marvel but also the excellent The Suicide Squad (the second film, not the first considered a failure).

It’s the July 9, 2025 what Superman : Legacy will be released in French cinemas. For the rest of the cast, Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane while Nicholas Hoult will be Lex Luthor. Nathan Fillion, close to James Gunn who plays in many of the director’s films, will don the Green Lantern costume.
